Word for the Day
Metaphysics is the study of reality and existence, who we are, and what our purpose is. It is the study of reality through the five senses, taste, touch, smell, hearing, and sight as well as beyond the five senses. Meta means beyond so Metaphysics means the study of reality beyond the five senses. Under metaphysics one could include all of the clairs. Clair means clear so all the clairs indicate a more refined use of the senses. The clairs are:
*Clairvoyance—clear vision or the gift of sight
*Clairaudience—clear hearing, the gift of hearing
*Clair cognizance—clear knowing, the gift of knowing
*Clairsentience—clear feeling, the gift of feeling
*Clairgustance—clear tasting, the gift of taste
*Clairalience—clear smelling, the gift of smelling
For example, my grandfather had both clairvoyance and clairaudience. Recently departed spirits would show up and ask him to share messages with the living. He saw and heard them. My mother was clairsentient and claircognizant. She often just knew who it was when the phone rang, and she would know someone died before anyone else knew. She was also very empathetic and literally felt in her body, what other people were feeling. When I first started to wake up, I heard the information(clairaudience)> Now through cultivation of my subtle senses, I receive information through visions, feeling, and knowing. I have yet to receive information through the sense of smell or taste. Thought I have had memories triggered by smells.
In my rock shop I learned that working with rocks from a vibrational standpoint was a type of metaphysics, as is the study of quantum physics, ESP, UFOs, Remote Viewing, Astrology, Cryptology, shamanism and other types of occult or hidden practices.
As a metaphysician, I have learned that it is often very hard to explain some of the experiences that are beyond the five senses. However, the scientific method is still a valuable tool in the study of metaphysics.
At this time, with the advances of science, we are beginning to see that modalities and practices once thought heretical or preposterous have a scientific basis. Studies have been done that show there are neurological as well as nervous system changes and benefits from yoga, meditation, and chanting.
There are also a lot of studies being done with
entheogens and mental well-being. For example, studies are showing that depression and anxiety are helped with micro-dosing of “magic mushrooms”.
I have the sense that, unless we get drug back into the dark ages by the Supreme Court, we will find that physics and science explain a lot of things thought to be “magic” or “evil”. Through this blog, I intend to walk the line between what shamans and mystics have said and what science is beginning to understand about the importance of connecting humans to all the realms of reality on this planet.
