THE NUMEROLOGY OF 2024 Part I
IT MAY BE GOOD, IT MAY BE BAD. You don't have control over that but you can take a deep breath.
I have been studying numerology for a long time. When I first learned about numerology I learned it from a big black book called Numerology: Spiritual Light Vibrations. As a systems analyst I just saw it as another tool to give us clues as to what frequency we came into vibrate. In this book by Jeanne, each number has a vibration and each letter has a number/numbers associated with it and thus not only does our birthday give us a clue to the frequency we are here to bring to the world as does our birth name.
Even though the year 2024 is a human construct, because the collective gives it power it has meaning for us. In traditional numerology, 2024(2+0+2+4) vibrates as the number 8. An 8 in that system is associated with form that has been solidified into matter. So 8 is a vibrational wave and we all have opportunities to work with that energy but those who have 8s in their numerology are designed to specifically learn to take that vibration as a wave and turn it into a particle. The Key words for 8 are “As you sow, so shall you reap” In other words it is very much aligned with the notion of Karma, which is considered the Universal Law of Truth. For every action there is a reaction. All religions refer to this frequency and in the west it is called the Golden Rule. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
In 2024 we all have the opportunity to experience this vibration. If we are paying attention we will be able to use this energy through every thought we think and every action we take to see the vibration of what we create, manifest on the material plane. The other opportunity we will have this year is to see how our actions, thoughts and desires are continuing to create our life in the present moment. When the number is balanced, we can bring spiritual energy into our lives in a balanced and harmonious way. We can see it manifest by connecting to the notion of “As above, so below and as within, so without.” When it is balanced it is our manifestations are balanced in both yang and yin energy (masculine and feminine energy). When those energies are balanced within we have for example, the opportunity to be balanced in giving and receiving and in action and stillness. The balanced energy of the eight will allow us to use our energy wisely, be organized, feel stable, achieve our purpose and find our inner authority.
A little over a decade ago, I learned another way to look at numbers and numerology. Through my study and practice of Kundalini Yoga I became acquainted with a system called Tantric Numerology. This system is based on the notion that we don’t just have a physical body, but rather we have 10 bodies and the 11th Embodiment. There are several systems that talk about the extra-physical bodies and though this system uses different names there are definitely parallels to the other systems. The 10 bodies in this system are each associated with a number. This system, like traditional numerology, describes each of us have a unique vibration or frequency that we are here to express. This system defines these 10 bodies and their particular numerical association as follows:
1st Body-SOUL BODY #1
2nd Body-NEGATIVE MIND #2
3rd Body-POSITIVE MIND #3
4th Body-NEUTRAL MIND #4
5th Body-PHYSICAL BODY #5
6th Body-ARC LINE #6
7th Body-AURA #7
8th Body- PRANIC BODY #8
9th Body- SUBTLE BODY #9
10th Body- RADIANT BODY #10
11th Embodiment-COMMAND CENTER/ELEVENTH BODY #11 (10+1 RADIANT BODY+SOUL BODY)
The first 7 bodies are associated with the traditional 7 chakras and there is also an association to the meridians and the Sikh Gurus as well. One can also look at each body as an archetypal expression.
Unlike traditional numerology, this system just works with your birthday (day, month, year) and based on your numerology, you have what is called a Karma number, a Soul number, a Gift number, a Destiny number and a Path Number. Though we all have access to all of the bodies, depending on your numerology you can your strengths and your weaknesses are highlighted through your numerology. By finding, understanding and working with your unique combination of numbers you can not only see your strengths and your weaknesses, there are specific meditations, pranayama(breath exercises), mantras and physical exercises that you can do to strengthen your weaknesses and accentuate your strengths. I have even done combination readings of astrology and tantric numerology and the challenges and weaknesses in the astrology chart, also show up in the tantric numerology. I have been able to recommend specific tools that support the strengths and minimize the weaknesses. There are also simple, yet amazing tool to support people during challenging astrological transits
Now back to 2024 and the number 8. 8 in tantric numerology is associated with the Pranic Body and is associated with the life force that we bring into our bodies with each breath. When we take deep, long breaths, we are continually bringing in energy that nourishes our cells. When we take short shallow breaths we don’t fully oxygenate our bodies and almost all diseases start with an imbalance in the pranic body. There is debate of course, but science has shown that for most of us, if we cease to bring in oxygen, our systems rapidly shut down and within minu
tes we die . In most yogic practices, breath is a keystone of the practice. In KY yoga, whether it is a physical movement, a meditation with a particular breath sequence or even a mantra meditation, breath is the key. The prana that we breath in goes into every cell and if your breathing is impinged, you may develop low level anxiety and chronic fatigue.
We may use food or stimulants to get energy. When our organs don’t get enough oxygen, they don’t function appropriately and as a result you may be more prone to illness, fear and timidity. When we are disconnected from our breath, we can have a hard time keeping our heart open because we are in a state of fight, flight or freeze. When our hearts are shut down we are more likely to be reactive and defensive.
When your pranic body is strong, all of your organs are oxygenated and there is excess prana that moves out of your physical body and expands your aura. When it is strong and your breath is slow and deep, you are fearless and more able to cherish every event in your life. The more conscious you are of your breath, the more conscious you are going to be of where you are holding stress in your body, the more you are going to be aware of your emotions and the more able you are to be present and face whatever life throws at you.
Living here in the U.S. it is already clear that 2024, because it is an election year, may be a bit of a challenge. As a nation, the us versus them mentality is nothing new but we are so greatly divided that there are some people equating this time with the time of the civil war. A lot of astrologers believe that Pluto returning to its place when the United States was formed is a big part of the reason that we can all see the flaws in the systems that have been corrupted by greed, division, racism, misogyny and economic injustice. We may not agree on the why, but the corruption is in our faces right now. Combine the corruption with the weird weather, the fears of apocalypse, the wars in other parts of the world and overall fear of the unknown, strengthening the Pranic body can only help. To strengthen the Pranic body, do anything that encourages diaphragmatic breathing such as singing, aerobic exercises, camel pose, baby pose, cobra pose, and any other poses that opens up the front of your body.
There are breath meditations in just about all meditative traditions, whether breath of fire, ratio breaths, mantras with a specific breath rhythm. Even Tai Chi and Qi Gong use breath and movement to create a meditative state. I like to encourage my students to practice any kriya or movement and link the movement, with the breath, and the Mantra Sat Nam (Sat on the inhale, Nam on the exhale) which means Truth is my Name. I also perceive that this mantra aligns us with Natural Laws, of which the Law of Karma is just one. Of course you can use any mantra or affirmation you want. The key is to link all three: breath, mental focus, and movement so that you can become more aware of your body, more aware of your breath, master your mind and become more present.
If 2024 is going to be as rough as some people predict, the ability to breath deeply will help you be more in the state of rest and digest. Deep breathing helps calm your nervous system by balances our sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system. A lot of traditions suggest a daily practice and through experience i have found that even three minutes a day can make a difference. As I was told by my Tai Chi teacher: “We do a structured practice every day, so that during the rest of the day, we can flow in our lives. We can respond to life, not react to it.”
In the coming year there may be many things that happen that we don’t have any control of at all. We may have floods, storms, fires, or earthquakes. We may have a deer jump out in front of our car. We may have people in our life who will not be able to handle the stress of the times. If you build your pranic body, you can be more self-confident, you can be braver and just your presence can calm others down. Whatever happens, whether you have control over it or not, what you do have control over is whether or not your breath is slow and steady.
