I have written about my fascination with the cities of light map that came to my attention years ago. I have always seen the map from a holistic standpoint and I have always felt the 5-pointed star in the great lakes as a key to the function of the system as a whole, though I have spent time observing what is happening in the individual cities of light.
In 2017 a lot of people I knew traveled to Oregon or Idaho to see the eclipse in August. I was taught by one of my teachers that what happens during an eclipse is a “private thing between the sun and the moon and that we should mind our own business.” In his tradition, people stayed inside and let that private interaction occur. At the time of the eclipse, I was in a dark room meditating.
Astrologers have different takes on eclipses. Those who have studied eclipses in history have put forward that eclipses, especially full solar eclipses, create great change in the countries where the eclipse is visible. Sometimes these changes have been cataclysmic in magnitude. What comes to mind is the notion that comes from a branch of astrology called “Evolutionary Astrology” and that is that those who resist change bring cataclysmic change.
As an observer of patterns, I can see the changes that have been rought since the 2017 eclipse. And depending on your perspective they could be considered good or bad. Personally, I try not to look at change as good or bad, rather, I like to be open to where the changes take us. In my own life with change there have been changes that I judged as bad that took me to places that I now consider as good.
When one looks at the path of the 2017 eclipse one can see that it went through Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tenesee, South Carolina, and Georgia. Think for a moment of all of the things that have happened in those states since 2017. Whether it is political, economic, climactic or related to race, class or gender there have been some crazy events in those places. Please feel free to share anything of interest that has occured where you live if you were in the path of the 2017 eclipse.
Now if you look at the path of the April 8, 2024 Eclise it will go through Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. Also we can’t forget our neighbors to the north, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland. If you live in any of the places in the path of the eclipse, and are good citizen scientists, without judgement just record what jumps out at you as interesting phenomenon.
So what is striking to me, however, is how these paths of the eclipses connects to the cities of light. When I look at the Cities of Light map, I have seen it as a “clock mechanism” of some sort. Key to the function of the “clock” is the 5-poionted star over the great leaks. For the mechanism to function that star needs to begin to spin. I could never understand what would cause this to spin until I looked at the path of this upcoming eclipse.
When you look at the map, note there is a city of light connected to the star. This city of light is associated with the color red, the root chakra and the “overlighting devas of the plant, mineral, and animal kingdoms.” So on one level, this eclipse and the changes it brings, may trigger the awakening of this whole continent. When a person goes through an awakening the kundalini travels up the spine and where ever there are blockages, the energy of awakening triggers those old blockages. This interaction between the past and our potential may cause heat, pain, or an outbreak of emotions in order to release the old blockages and embody more of the soul.
What that means for the earth, I am not 100% sure but there could be tornados, earthquakes, floods, droughts, fire or some combination of activating geological or weather events. For the collective, as a nation and a continent, we may be faced with a decision. We may have to come to terms with the past actions of our ancestors as it relates to people of color, women, and the environment. We also may have to acknowledge how we have mistreated others because of the Doctrine of Discovery, Racism, Sexism, Elitism or some other ism that touts that one group of people are better, smarter, more deserving of freedom than others.
The other thing that jumps out at me about the path of the eclipse is that the Eclipse will be visible in a city of light that is on the Mexico/Texas border.
At this time I know nothing about this city of light, neither its color nor its function. I get the sense I will discover more after the eclipse. Note however, that that is an area where the “States Right’s versus Federal” battle is occuring. It is also a place where we as a people are going to have to choose whether or not we still subscribe to the 10th and 11th line of the poem at the bottom of the Statue of Liberty: “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free”- Emma Lazarus
The other thing about this city of light is that it brings to mind “the imaginary medicine lines” we have used to seperate country from country and state from state. In the past it was Empires that decided where these imaginary medicine lines would go. From putting tribal people on reservations, and creating the state of Isreal to zoning, we have allowed people of power and wealth to decide for us who and where certain races, religions and ethnicities can or cannot live. I guess we will see.
The final peice I want to talk about as far as the eclipses and the cities of light map are concerned is the Yellow city of light that includes parts of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. As I currently understand it, the theme of this City of Light is “We the People, in order to form a more perfect union…” To me that means that our constitution and nation will be tested in this area because of the resources that exist there.
When I look at this city of light, I can’t help but think of the resources that reside in this place, mostly I think about oil. But I also think about water, mineral resources and the people who live in this city of light. We often don’t think about human resourcefullness. If what I perceive, as a catastrophobe, comes to pass, we will be able to solve our problems only because of the resourcefullness of We the People, and our inclination to come together in crisis.
I know this is a long post, but I have to add one more thing. The Wounded Healer. From listening to astrologers, several of them remark about Chiron, the wounded healer and its conjunction to the eclipse. The Wounded Healer is an archetype but it is also an asteroid of some significance in astrology. Either way you look at it, is of importance to this discussion. When we have a wound, in order to survive, we often develop unhealthy coping mechanisms. As a result, we often wound others, sometimes intentionally but mostly because we are unaware.
When we ackowledge our wounding, take responsiblity for how we have inflicted wounds on others, we begin to use our experiences to heal others. Our country was built by wounded people who fled theocratic, authoritarian governments. The wounds of our ancestors often weren’t healed. Rather they became the wounders. By acknowledging as a nation, how we have inflicted suffering on people all over the planet because of our wounding, we have the potential to stop the suffering.
However, if we continue to bully other nations, while acting the victim, we will only bring more suffering. Each of us, no matter where we live, has an opportunity to embrace our shadow work. Where do you feel like the victim? Where do you bully others? How do you project your shadows onto others? How do you fail to see your own human potential while diminishing the potential of others.
All of this is just the work of a Citizen Scientist. Theorize, observe, change your position when your observations prove your theories wrong.
Hi Velvet. You're back writing and ,of course very interesting information.
THE ECLIPSE
I stood out in the open cold
To see the essence of the eclipse
Which was its perfect darkness.
I stood in the cold out on the porch
And could not think of anything so perfect
As man’s hope of light in the face of darkness. R. Eberhart
I'll read more tomorrow. Just wanted to check in and share this man's hope in the face of darkness.
Colin
Velvet Are you OK?
I never heard from you so I am just a bit worried.
